Pay for a traffic citation fee on penalty assessments due to the State of New Mexico’s Motor Vehicle Division. The amount per citation will vary depending on the citation given as well as the severity of the conviction.

Please note that not all citation payments are paid to the Motor Vehicle Division. Please double check the ticket by looking down at the bottom part of the front of the ticket and make sure penalty assessment is checked and the ordinance check box is unchecked.

In addition, a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) Inspection is required for every vehicle coming to New Mexico from another state. The VIN inspection is usually done by a MVD agent at the MVD Field Office. However, not all Field Offices perform VIN inspections, and some require an advance appointment.
