Business licenses for the City of Whittier, California can be renewed online. Renewal notices are mailed 30 days prior to the expiration of your business license. If there is a change in your business name, owner name or business address you will need to renew in person.
You will need your business license account #. This number can be found on your renewal form in the upper left section. You will also need your online renewal pin #. This number can be found on your renewal form in the bottom right corner Please allow up to 10 business days, after completing the online renewal process, to receive your new business license. During the closure, you are still able to pay your license online and it will be credited on the date you pay but your new business license will be mailed when City Hall re-opens.
Business license taxes become part of the City general fund which helps to pay for police services, libraries, community service programs, community center activities, street maintenance, and graffiti removal as well as several other programs offered throughout the City. If you would like to see the City budget documents, a copy can be viewed at the Controller's counter in City Hall.
A renewal notice will be sent to the mailing address or email address that we have on file according to your contact preference. However, since timely tax payments are the owner’s responsibility, you are encouraged to calendar the expiration date of the license.
