You will need your business license account number to access this service. This number can be found on your business license certificate.

Additional Fees

In addition, based upon the type of business you are operating, there will be an additional Disproportionate Fee. Please contact Business Licensing or come into the office and speak with our staff prior to submitting your application. Where do I go to get a Business License?

 

You can download forms and information sheets and apply by mail once you have the correct fees.

The office is closed all Federal and State Holidays.

You can pick up applications at the Business License Office on the second floor of the City & County Building, 451 South State Street, Room 225, Salt Lake City, UT 84111.

Some types of business licenses require a police background check. You can only apply for these types of licenses by coming into the office.

How long does it take to receive a business license?

 Most business license applications will be opened for the review process within 30 days of entry. Once opened, most applications will take two to three weeks of review before the decision is made.

Business licenses that require additional review by the licensing division may take longer than three weeks. In these more complex licensing scenarios, applicants will be in contact with the licensing division to receive an estimated decision time.

The licensing division recommends that applicants apply for their licenses no more than 30 days in advance of their planned opening.
