What information and documents do I need to renew a business license online?
To renew a business license online, your web browser must permit cookies, and you must have these items or this information:
- The facility number and 1 validation number from a valid official business license issued to the facility by the New York State DMV. See sample facility documents. If the facility has more than 1 type of license, you can renew other licenses when you enter the validation number from any 1 license.
- The ZIP code of the facility.
- Your name and title as an owner, partner or officer of the facility.
- A credit card or a debit card that the DMV accepts.
Can I renew a business license online if the address of the facility changed?
No, you cannot renew a business license online if the address of the facility has changed. Use Request for Business Amendment / Duplicate Certificate (MV-253G) to update the facility address.
