Using this online service, you can register to vote in Minnesota. To register online, you will need your Minnesota driver’s license or Minnesota identification card number, or the last four numbers of your Social Security Number (SSN).

Who can register to vote in Minnesota?

You must be:

  • A U.S. citizen
  • At least 18 years old on Election Day
  • A resident of Minnesota for 20 days
  • Finished with all parts of any felony sentence

Please note that you can vote while under guardianship unless a judge specifically has revoked your right to vote. You cannot vote if a court has ruled that you are legally incompetent.

Unlike many states, you can wait until Election Day to register in Minnesota. However, it is encouraged that you to register before Election Day—it will save you time at the polling place.

  • The deadline to register online is 11:59 p.m., 21 days before Election Day.
  • The deadline to register on paper is 5 p.m., 21 days before Election Day.
  • Otherwise, you can register on Election day at your polling place.
