What are the options to pay for water bill in Grand Rapids, MI?

You have the following options to pay for your water and sewer bills in the City of Grand Rapids, MI:

  • Pay by Phone: You can pay by phone with credit/debit card (Visa, MasterCard, or Discover). There are no fees for water/sewer bill payments over the phone. To make your payments, please call 1-877-495-0333 and select option 2 to make your payment.  You'll need to have your water account number ready. You can find this on your bill

    Please note that it takes 2 business days for your payment to post to your account. If  you make your payment on the weekend or on a holiday the payment will  post two business days later.
  • Pay by Mail: To pay your water/sewer bill by mail, please make your check or money order out to Grand Rapids City Treasurer.  Write your account number on the memo line of the check or money order. Here is the mailing address:

    Please keep in mind that it takes 5-7 business days for the US Postal Service to deliver mail to us. Make sure to mail your payment at least 5-7  business days before your payment is due!
  • Pay in Person: You can pay in person with cash, check, money order, or credit/debit (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express). Make checks out to Grand Rapids City Treasurer. Pay in person at City Hall ( 300 Monroe Ave NW) to have your payment immediately posted to your account.

    The City can validate 30 minutes of free parking in the Government Center Ramp while you make your payment, which is given to you at the counter.
  • Dropbox Payments: Pay when it's convenient for you and drop off your check or money  order payment in the dropbox. The dropboxs are emptied at 8:00 am and  process payments in 2 business days. If you drop off your payment after  8:00 am, it will be collected and processed two business days after that.

      You can find the dropbox across the street from City Hall at 300 Ottawa Ave NW.

  • Pay Online: You can pay your Grand Rapids Water/Sewer Bill Online by clicking PAY NOW above. 

Is it possible to extend the due date of my water bill in Grand Rapids, MI?

Yes! You can extend your due date by 4 days if all of these apply to you:

  • Your account is in good standing
  • Your bill is not past due
  • You call before your bill due date

You will need to call 311 or 616-456-3000 to determine if the City Treasurer's office is able to extend your due date. They are open Monday through Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (expect on holidays).
