Pay a utility bill from the city of Savannah, Georgia online using this service. You will need your Account Number and Barcode from the payment coupon of your bill to search for your records online. You can pay online by eCheck or Credit/Debit Cards. To pay using Credit/Debit Cards, the payment amount must be under $300. There is a $3.50 transaction fee to use your Credit/Debit Cards. To pay using eCHECKS, the payment amount must be under $1,000. You will need your checking or savings routing number and account number including all zeros. There is no fee to pay by eCHECK An email address is required for all online payments, and the minimum payment amount is $10.

Over 80,000 accounts of the City of Savannah employees are managed by the 12 members committee.  Over 54,000 meters are read manually,   a meter reader's physical presence at the meter site is needed for the meter reading. At least 280 readings must be registered by the reader a day to keep up with the billing schedule. The reader will check the meter dial.

Understanding of the bill

 1. The top portion of your bill will contain the period for which you are being billed, the number of days will also be mentioned there. Base charges will be determined from this period.

2. Water billing is done in units. i.e. Each unit equals 748 gallons comparing with the last bill units consumed units are determined and bill is charged.

3.Water bill contains two parts. i.e. the base charges and the usage fee. 

4.Base charges will be adopted by the city council.

5. Sewer service also has the same part base charges and an additional fee for every unit of water. If you consumed less than 15 units you'll be charged less. 

6.City Council adopts base service charge of Refuse (trash and recycling)   every year.

7.Your Usage will depict the most and least usage during the whole year.


What may be the main causes of a higher water bill?

Higher water bills mean a high quantity of consumed water.  The reasons for a higher water bill are 

 Summertime Spikes

In summers water consumption is higher as compared to the winters. According to research, in Savannah, 85 gallons of water is used by each resident in winters but this number increases to 125 in summers.

 Toilet Leaks

A leaked flush may be another cause of high usage of water and hence higher bills. Due to this leak, more than 100 gallons of water is wasted.

 Leaky Faucets

A leaky faucet may be another reason for more water consumption. Its consumption will depend upon the severity of the leak, more severe more consumption, and vice versa. 

Meter faults:

The reason except the leaks of higher water bill is the faulty meter. Maybe your meter is not functioning well that's why bills are high.
