An exemption means to cut down the amount of your taxes up to a specific limit. The following exemptions are available in LaSalle county:

• General Homestead Exemption: To get this exemption, the property must be your principal residence on or before January 1st.
• Homestead Improvement Exemption:  In this program, the new assessed value of your principal residence (after new improvements) can be deferred for four years.
• Senior Homestead Exemption: You are eligible for this exemption if you have reached the age of 65 in the tax year.
• Disableled Persons' Homestead Exemptions: This exemption is for disabled persons on their principal residence.
