Property taxes are due on or before February 1st for property assessed the preceding year. If February 1st falls on a weekend or legal holiday, taxes may be paid the following Monday without penalties or interest. If a payment is made by September 1st, a discount of 2 1/2% will be applied to the second payment if the payment is made by March 1st.

Tax bills are calculated by taking the true value of the property, multiplying that by the appropriate assessment ratio to determine the assessed value, and then multiplying the assessed value by the local property tax rate.
