The ownership of my property has changed. Will it affect the tax amount?

Yes, the ownership change may increase one's property tax. But if the property transfer is between parent and child then it may not result in reappraisal and an increase in the tax. For more information, please contact at (925) 313-7400. 

How do I qualify for a home exemption?

If you are a new property owner then you will receive an exemption application within 90 to 120 days after you recorded the deed. You will also receive the notice of supplement property assessment along with the exemption application. If you don't receive the application within 120 days then please contact at (925) 313-7481. 

Is there any tax exemption available for disabled veterans?

Yes, tax exemptions are available for disabled veterans and their spouses. If a veteran is 100% disab7led or blind during his duty in the Armed forces then he or his wife are eligible for a homestead exemption of up to $150,000. Please file an application to the Assessor's office or call at (925) 313-481 if you have any queries.
