FAQs

When are tax bills mailed out?

Clarksville tax bills for the current calendar year are mailed in October of each year. Tennessee law does not require the mailing of tax notices. Owners of property are presumed to know that taxes are due without personal notice.

Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the responsibility of payment, nor is this a reason for penalty and interest charges to be canceled if the tax bill becomes delinquent.

What time of year does the tax bill become due?

Clarksville Property taxes are due and payable from the first of October through the last day of February. Starting March 1, penalty and interest will be accrued.

What happens if I miss the tax payment deadline?

Beginning March 1st, taxes will be considered delinquent and will start to accrue monthly interest at a rate of 1.5 percent per month, or 18 percent annually. This amount is added to the tax bill.

After taxes have been delinquent for one year, the City of Clarksville then turns the taxes over to the Delinquent Tax Attorney. Once the taxes have been turned over to the tax attorney, additional fees will apply.

Where can my tax bill be paid in person?

The City of Clarksville’s Finance & Revenue Department Collections is located at One Public Square – Suite 119. City Hall shares a building with US Bank. Free parking is available on the Public Square side of the City Hall building.

There is also a night deposit located to the left of the doors on the City Hall/US Bank building for secure drop off.
