When are my real estate taxes due?

Tax bills are mailed out twice each year, typically in January and June. The due date for payment is usually a month later, in February and July.

Why do the due dates for payment change?

The due date for payment of real estate taxes is established by the Treasurer but is dependent on when the Auditor provides the actual computer file of correctly calculated tax amounts. Generally, the 1st half taxes are due on the second Friday in February, and the 2nd half taxes are due on the second Friday in July.

Where can I pay my real estate tax bill?

Online! Simply click on the Search and Pay Property Taxes tab on this website. Find your property, click on the Tax tab, then select Make Tax Payment. Follow the ensuing directions and click on Proceed to Secure Checkout. You can pay your tax bill in person at the Treasurer’s Office located at 301 N. Main St, Room 201, Lima, Ohio 45801. We are open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. We also have a drop box outside the courthouse by the automatic doors. Also, you can drop your check with bill stub off at any one of the following financial institutions (going inside or using their drive-thru service): Superior Federal Credit Unions with 7 locations in Allen County. Are credit cards accepted?

YES, Master Card, Visa, American Express, and Discover cards are accepted by phone (888-546-3679), in the office and online. There is a convenience fee charged by Point and Pay for these services. For Credit Cards, the fee is 2.5% per transaction. Visa debit cards charge a flat $3.95 fee.
