FAQs

What determines if my citation is payable or whether I must appear in court?

Whether a citation is payable or requires a court appearance is  determined by the judges of the Coweta County State Court. In creating  what is known as the Traffic Violations Bureau (TVB), the judges drafted  and signed an order setting out what offenses were to be payable  without a court appearance.

Can I speak to a judge about my case?

No. It is inappropriate to speak with a judge about a specific case  without both parties being present. Information and facts relating to a  case are presented in a courthouse during scheduled events.  Correspondence to a Judge in a pending case should be served on the  opposing party and filed in the Clerk of Court's Office.

I have a question about my criminal history. What should I do?

Call the Georgia Crime Information Center Helpline, which is the  record keeper for criminal histories, at 1-404-244-2639. Ask for the  following information or go to https://gbi.georgia.gov/contact-us-0

  • The offense date and date of arrest.
  • Ask what information you will need from the court which you will  need to provide to the Georgia Crime Information Center Helpline.
