Can I report a stolen or lost license plate, guns or a motor vehicle through the online reporting system?

No. License plates, guns or motor vehicles of any kind cannot be reported using the online reporting system. Please call the Non-Emergency Communications Center at 919-469-4012

What conditions must be met to report an incident online?

 The following conditions must be met to file a police report online: 

•    Must have occurred in the city limits of Cary, North Carolina
•    There must be NO evidence to process (ex: video footage)
•    The crime being reported must NOT be in progress
•    The crime being reported CANNOT be a violent crime.

How long does it take to complete an accident or incident report?

The Records Team usually receives incident and accident reports within 48 to 72  hours after officers file them. There is no charge for reports.
