Request a marriage verification letter from the Texas Department of State Health Services.  The verification letter indicates if the marriage was recorded with the State of Texas.

If the record is available, a verification letter will include the name, date of birth or death, and county of birth or death.

No, a marriage-verification letter is not the same as a marriage license. A marriage-verification letter is a letter that verifies whether or not a marriage has been recorded with the State of Texas since 1966. For copies of marriage licenses, contact the county clerk in the county in which the marriage license was obtained. 

I need a copy of my marriage license or my divorce decree. How can I order that?

Our office cannot issue a certified copy of a marriage license or divorce decree. You must obtain a certified copy of a marriage license from the county clerk's office in the county that issued the marriage license. You must obtain a certified copy of a divorce decree from the district clerk's office in the county where the divorce was granted.
