Does the City of Roswell offer Homestead Exemptions?

Four homestead exemptions are offered by the City of Roswell. To qualify, property owners must own and occupy the home as their permanent residence as of January 1 of the tax year. Applications are accepted between January 1 and June 1 and may be submitted in person at City Hall (Suite 210) or via email at

Once approved, the homestead exemptions will renew automatically each year until a change in ownership occurs. Homestead exemption amounts, excluding the Disabled Veteran Exemption, apply to the General Fund Millage Rate only.

Floating Homestead Exemption: This exemption is automatically granted to all Roswell residents with a Fulton County Homestead Exemption in place. The Floating Homestead Exemption caps the 2019 taxable value at the lowest value from 2016, 2017, or 2018 plus 4.23%. For future years, value increases will be limited by the rate of inflation or 3%, whichever is less.

Senior Homestead Exemptions:The City of Roswell offers two Senior Homestead Exemptions:A $2,000 exemption is available for persons age 65 or older.

A $20,000 exemption is available for persons age 65 or older with a combined Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of less than $40,000.

Disabled Veteran Exemption: The City of Roswell recognizes the Federal Disabled Veteran Exemption. If you are a disabled veteran that has been approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs as being permanently 100% disabled, you may be entitled to receive an exemption of $85,645.

Is there an interest penalty for not paying your taxes by the due date?

Yes. The penalty is a one-time charge of 10 percent plus a $1.50 late filing fee. Interest is charged (accrued) monthly at the rate of .0058 percent.

The City of Roswell will also place a lien on properties for non payment of taxes.

What is the billing schedule for water bills?

Residential accounts are billed every 2 months with 6 bills issued per year. Commercial accounts are billed every month with 12 bills issued per year. There may be a one-month delay for your initial bill.

Is there a penalty charge for a late payment of Property taxes in Fulton County, Georgia?

For taxes not paid by the due date, interest will begin to accrue on the day following the due date and will continue to accrue on the principal amount each month thereafter, until the bill is paid in full.

Additionally, penalty will be charged at a rate of 5% on the 120th day after each due date and will continue to accrue 5% every 120 days after until paid in full or until it reaches to maximum of 20%.

How do I qualify for unemployment insurance benefits in Georgia?

How long must I have worked to establish a claim in Georgia?

Your claim is based on insured wages earned in the base period, which is the first four of the last five calendar quarters completed at the time you file your claim. You must have earned qualifying wages in at least two of the four quarters in the base period.
