1. A current rabies vaccination certificate is required if the rabies vaccination on file has expired. Please check your certificate to make sure that your address is correct and your pet’s description is correct and complete. A primary breed should always be included, even if the animal is a mixed breed.
2. Proof of spay/neuter, such as a signed statement from a veterinarian or an invoice for services, is required if the pet has been altered since the last licensing period and you are applying for the lower spayed/neutered license fee.
3. Proof of age, such as a copy of any document listing the owner’s name and date of birth. Please feel free to mark out any sensitive information, such as ID numbers, on the copy before submission.

If your Unsecured property tax payment is not received or postmarked by the delinquent date, a 10% penalty and a $35.00 collection fee are added to your bill.

If your bill remains unpaid for two additional months, a monthly penalty of 1 and 1/2% begins to accrue. In addition, if a Certificate of Tax Lien is recorded by the County of San Mateo Tax collector, an additional fee of $13.00 will be required to release the lien. 

San Mateo County secured property tax bill is payable in two installments:

• The 1st installment is due and payable on November 1. However, you have until 5:00 p.m. of December 10th to make your payment before a 10% penalty is added to your bill.
• The 2nd installment is due and payable on February 1. The grace period on the 2nd installment expires at 5:00 p.m., on April 10. If the installment remains unpaid as of April 10, a 10% penalty and $40.00 cost is imposed.

Secured tax bills and Unsecured tax bills from the San Mateo County (CA) covers a "fiscal year." The fiscal year begins July 1 and ends on June 30 of the following calendar year.

The San Mateo County Assessor establishes the value of the unsecured property on January 1. This date is often referred to as the Tax Lien date.

The January 1 value is multiplied by the tax rate (usually 1% plus voter approved indebtedness). The unsecured tax rate is the prior year secured rate.

The term "Unsecured" simply refers to property that can be relocated and is not real estate. The tax is assessed against such things as business equipment, fixtures, boats and airplanes. If the unsecured tax is not paid, a personal lien is filed against the owner, not the property.

The term "Secured" simply means taxes that are assessed against real property, (e.g., land or structures). The tax is a lien that is "secured" by the land/structure even though no document was officially recorded. This means that if the taxes remain unpaid after a period of 5 years, the property may be sold to cover the taxes owed.

If you have a valid U.S. passport or U.S. passport card, military ID, or other federally approved identification, you may use this it as your form of identification to board a domestic flight or enter certain federal facilities after the new federal requirements begin October 1, 2020.  

If you know you will not be boarding a domestic flight or visiting a secure federal facility or military base, you do not need a REAL ID driver license or ID card.

You do not need a REAL ID driver license or ID card to do any of the following:

• Apply for or receive federal benefits (Veterans Affairs, Social Security Administration, etc.)
• Enter a post office or other federal facility that does not require identification.
• Visit a hospital or receive life-saving services
• Ride Amtrak or other public ground transportation

• Board a domestic flight starting October 1, 2020.

To register to vote in California, you must be:

• A United States citizen and a resident of California
• 18 years old or older on Election Day
• Not currently in state or federal prison or on parole for the conviction of a felony
• Not prohibited from voting by a court because of mental incompetency 

To register online, you will need:

• Your California driver license or California identification card number,
• The last four digits of your social security number and
• Your date of birth.

Your information will be provided to the California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to retrieve a copy of your DMV signature.

If you do not have a California driver license or California identification card, you can still use this form to apply to register to vote by completing the online interview by 11:59:59 p.m. Pacific Time on the 15th calendar day before an election.
